Build your own Forest with AliPay Antforest
Here is a great resource for both teachers and students to use to be able to practice sustainable living and actually build their own forest! the AntForest aspect of the AliPay App (kind of like PayPal/Apple Pay) gives you points for doing environmentally friendly things. The app has a game like feature where you can see the trees you plant and even keep a coop of chickens. It would be interesting to extract the language functions of the App and use screenshots of the interface in a Lesson. This would be a cool way to even teach nature vocabulary or vocabulary related to carbon emissions and empower students to live their life sustainably in a fun and practical way. Environmental justice in Mobile Assisted Language Learning for the win!
Credit to my students for sharing this with me – the app is still growing in the US but can be used at Walgreens and other stores in major cities. The app is HUGE in China.
Oo, this is really cool! I think one of the things that frustrates me with being eco-friendly, is that I don’t really know what to do, so having an app suggest things is great. I’ll have to check it out and see how well it works in the US….
