Black Minds Matter
Join in for a national educational advocacy training on supporting the success of Black students in K-12 education. This webinar will feature a presentation from Dr. J. Luke Wood on issues facing Black children in their school transitions during the dual pandemics of COVID-19 and AntiBlackness.
I have attended other webinars by Luke Wood and his team and I think they do a excellent job at providing useful information. I highly recommend attending this webinar. Even if you can not attend the webinar live, they will usually provide a link to the recording after.

Thanks for sharing this resource, Yanci! I finished watching the recording and was blown away by the stark differences in how Black and Brown children are treated in schools as seen in the data Dr. Wood presented. I also learned a lot about the perspectives of parents and the suggestion that parents of Black parents should form groups or address the school together. It was also really interesting to see how COVID-19 has affected some of the trends they discussed, and how even on Zoom the unequal treatment of Black students was obvious to children and parents alike. It made me wonder, too, how many parents learned new things about their kids’ school lives or experiences in class from witnessing and/or overhearing their Zoom classes that they might not have heard about otherwise.
Mollie, I am so glad you got to check out the webinar! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!! Yes, there are a number of students who are treated differently everyday in school just because they way they look, dress, speak. And you would never know it unless you are able to experience it firsthand or listen to others stories.
Thanks for sharing the recording Yanci! I am familiar with Luke Wood among the presenters. I will definitely watch it soon!
