What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of mental health?
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of addiction?
I recently come across a very interesting movement that is not directly related to the issues of our class, however it is definitely a concern of social justice. This movement is geared towards changing the stigma about people and families of people who have suffered from addiction – something that transcends race, class, and socio-economic status.
“It is clear that the addict is not the only one who needs rehabilitation – society’s view is in dire need of reconstruction as well. Addiction is so prevalent today, yet recovery is missing.”
Emmy-Winning Movement towards Awareness

The lack of dialogue around recovery is driving potential sobriety away and marginalizing recovering individuals.
Here is the link to the original website, which is rather beautiful:
And the mission statement:
“Our mission is to bring the SOLUTION into the conversation in hopes of helping the millions of people who remain untreated and help the world understand that addiction is not a moral failing”

This is a great source Kate! Thanks for sharing it.
