Free Mini-Workshops to Check Your Bias!

MTV’s Look Different campaign is an awesome resource for people looking to check their biases related to race, gender, and LGBTQ issues. All you have to do to receive FREE access to the resource is enter a valid email address, and wait 2 seconds! Then, check your email to see that they have sent you 2-5-minute mini-workshops every day for one week. I just found this website today, but I am already SO impressed with the activities that work to test how our sometimes unconscious assumptions play out in everyday life. I don’t want to give too much away, because there is elements of surprise, but I highly recommend that you all check it out!

I think this could be an awesome resource for a language classroom. I am currently creating a unit plan entitled, “Racial Profiling in the USA” and think assigning these mini-workshops as homework would be a really interesting addition to my unit! I think an added workshop could look at biases related to immigrants in the USA. Any ideas for how to pitch that to MTV? šŸ™‚
