Gender, Race, & Voting

The photo above was taken from this NY Times page that shows the 2020 exit polls. While I know the political and social divide in the US is striking, it’s also alarming to see 55% of White women voting for an open misogynist who has countless cases of sexual harassment against him. The graphic also shows that women vote more closely to the men in their own racial category than to women in other racial categories. This article confronts this feeling of “shock,” giving many examples of how White women “remain stationed at the nexus of white supremacy, gender minority status and the privilege of perceived faultlessness, a position that has garnered them immense power both politically and socially.”
